This Chamber Music Institute is for advanced students whose playing level, age, and maturity are suited to a more intensive chamber music experience, culminating in a concert on Thursday. It is open to both advanced Suzuki students as well as traditionally trained students and adults. Students in this program arrive earlier on Sunday and begin their chamber music classes Sunday afternoon. In general the minimum playing levels are:
Violin: book 8 through beyond Suzuki repertoire
Viola: book 5 through beyond Suzuki repertoire
Cello: book 6 through beyond Suzuki repertoire
Guitar: book 8 through beyond Suzuki repertoire
The daily curriculum for Chamber Institute students:

Private Lesson Masterclass (begins Monday)
In this small group of three, students take turns working individually with the teacher, and observing the other students' lesson time.
Chamber Music with faculty coach (begins Sunday)
Students have 2 class periods of chamber music coaching per day.

​Sinfonia (advanced orchestra)

Chamber Rehearsal
​Students rehearse daily on their own with their quartet.

Elective Class (optional)
Options include fiddling, improvisation, celtic cello, folk dancing, beginning
guitar, beginning violin for adults, and guitar improvisation. For more details on our elective offerings:

Students will be selected by video submission and teacher recommendation.
Pre-formed ensembles may apply as a group. Requirements:

Short video (2-4 minutes) of a piece that demonstrates the student’s current playing level.

Recommendation letter from private teacher or chamber music instructor

List of previous chamber music experience and repertoire studied
Application deadline for this program is May 1, 2026 but earlier is recommended.
