Welcome to the Blue Ridge Suzuki Camp! We offer a concentrated week of music study and recreation for Suzuki students and their families in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley region. Now in our 21st year, the camp has developed a reputation for its outstanding faculty, supportive learning environment, and beautiful location. Many families return year after year- creating a strong sense of community among students, parents, and teachers.
Enrollment is open to violin, viola, cello, bass, and guitar students at all levels, from ages three through adult, who study with a Suzuki teacher. We also offer a limited number of piano masterclass spots for Suzuki and traditional piano students who are siblings of attending students.
Students of all instruments who are in the upper Suzuki books, or beyond the Suzuki repertoire, have the option of auditioning for our more focused Chamber Music Institute. All students who are 12 and older may attend camp without parents, and stay in a supervised teen cottage. Siblings and parents of Suzuki students may participate as well, through our many elective offerings.
In addition to daily music classes, students are given the opportunity to perform on a solo recital and participate in camp evening activities and recreation. Blue Ridge Suzuki Camp is held at Shrine Mont Camp and Conference Center, with recreational facilities including a large outdoor pool, tennis courts, fishing pond, basketball court, miles of scenic hiking and biking trails, and much open space for children to play together.
Students of all ages and levels are able to to further their skills and love of music in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Parents have the opportunity to learn, share ideas, and to enjoy special time with their children and other families. The week together provides motivation, learning, and enjoyment for all.
