General Information

Registration

Early registration is recommended, as our enrollment is limited and may fill up.  Please complete the application form and mail with registration fee or full payment by May 10

Arrival and Departure

Registration is between 4:00 and 5:30 on Sunday, June 17, followed by dinner, welcome, and a play-in for all students. Camp ends on Friday, June 22 with the final concerts in the morning and lunch.  The Advanced Chamber Music Program begins at 12:30 on Saturday, June 16 and ends on Friday June 22.

Daily Schedule

Classes are scheduled between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Every student’s schedule is unique, depending on their level and what electives they choose.  Typically students have a combination of morning and afternoon classes, with at least 1 or 2 free blocks of time for practice or recreation.  In the later afternoons there are solo recitals and additional time for recreation, and every evening there is a special concert or family activity.

Preparation

A specific review list will be emailed in early May, which should be practiced and played from memory.  Students should also come with a polished piece and a working piece for their private lesson masterclass.

Solo Recitals

Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to play on an afternoon solo recital.  You must complete a Recital Information Form and mail it, either with registration or separately, by June 1.

Families

Parents are responsible for their children during camp, and should plan to attend classes when possible. Siblings are welcome to attend camp, and may register for electives and participate in all activities.

Teen Cottage

Students age 13 and older may attend camp without a parent, and will be supervised by an experienced adult counselor in the teen cottages.  Mature 12 year olds will also be considered, at the discretion of the Director.

Accommodations

Housing is in the renovated Maryland House, Pennsylvania House or nearby cottages.  There are various configurations of rooms to meet the needs of families of all sizes, although certain room types may fill up faster than others.  All rooms have private baths with a shower.  There is no air-conditioning, but nights have been typically cool and comfortable. Meals are served buffet style in the historic hotel dining room, and a simple vegetarian option is provided for all meat meals.

Commuters

We encourage families to stay at Shrine Mont- which allows students to get the most out of the camp experience.  If you choose to commute or camp, there is a per-person commuter fee for use of the facilities.  Meals may be purchased individually at the hotel desk or you may eat on your own.

Recreation

Recreation facilities include a large spring-fed outdoor pool (lifeguard on duty), miles of hiking and fitness trails, biking, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts.

Scholarship

A limited amount of scholarship assistance is available, and is based on financial need and merit considerations.  Please e-mail for information on how to apply.
